If you have been staying up to date with our blog posts on how to become a Warrior Strong woman, you likely know how important it is to build self-confidence. Mary Ricciardi has also tackled the pivotal role of self-esteem in cultivating a self-loving and self-accepting mindset in her exclusive mentorship program – Warrior Strong Lifestyle 365. But, how exactly can you nurture self-confidence? What are the key steps you should take to finally say “YES, I CAN!” every time you face an impossible challenge?

Step #1 — Accept yourself

Do you remember the Warrior Strong blog post on body positivity from Mary Ricciardi’s lessons? In that discussion, we shared the value of embracing body positivity to dispel self-loathing. When you learn to cultivate a self-loving mindset, you are giving yourself the power to make better choices for your health, lifestyle, and mental well-being.

More importantly, it also paves the way in developing self-esteem by helping you silence that inner critic that tells you things like:

Step #2 — Evaluate your priorities

Nothing can dampen the human spirit like unrealized goals. That’s why it pays to evaluate your life goals and see if they make sense for your timeline, current capabilities, environment, and the challenges that might come your way. It’s also essential to assess your priorities based on the urgency and importance of a certain goal.

Step #3 — Take advantage of learning opportunities

The more skills or core competencies (for work or general life purposes) you pick up, the better you feel as a person. So, you might find it extra helpful to maximize every learning opportunity that comes your way. Here are some examples of learning opportunities:

Step #4 — Free yourself from negative thoughts

Negative thoughts can drag you down and discourage you from making positive life choices. They can also prevent you from connecting with loved ones, doing your work, and attending to all kinds of tasks. If negative things plague your mind every now and then, here are some actionable tips from Forbes:

Step #5 — Be brave to take actions

Making tough decisions is a hallmark indication of having self-confidence. It also allows you to face your insecurities and exercise critical thinking. So, it would be best to maximize opportunities that force you to make tough calls as much as possible.

Step #6 — Celebrate small victories

What better way to cultivate self-confidence than celebrating even the most minor victories in life? So take the time to savor winning moments like starting a mindset transformation journey, completing a health goal, and seeing changes in your physical appearance because of your active efforts.

Step #7 — Accept defeat

Failures are a normal part of life. So, instead of seeing them as your stressors or detractors, we suggest embracing your failures and learning from the experience. Here are some valuable insights on how to lose like a winner from the American Management Association:

Step #8 — Break your ties with naysayers

Having a supportive friend or company can help you boost your morale. On the other hand, surrounding yourself with naysayers can hurt your emotional and psychological health. Because of that, we highly suggest being extra mindful of the company you keep, both offline and online.

Step #9 — Learn how to face your fears head-on

Did you know that fear is the number one enemy of self-confidence? The sooner you learn to break the pattern and face your fears head-on, the easier it will be to accept that you can do amazing things. It will also help you avoid developing a self-loathing and self-blaming mindset.

Step #10 — Find a role model

Learning to become self-confident is sometimes easier when you have a role model who can inspire you. Thankfully, there are plenty of amazing women out there who are slaying their demons and inspiring people around them. Notably, you can also turn to role models like Mary Ricciardi, a certified holistic health coach, mindset coach, nutrition specialist, and gut health expert.

Warrior Strong Wellness
Warrior Strong Wellness provides innovative and high quality transformational supplements and raises awareness and funds to fight childhood cancer by giving a portion of our proceeds to childhood cancer research. In our weekly blogs, we share wisdom about wellness and living a Warrior Strong lifestyle.

Warrior Strong women do not mean they are flawless and faultless. They are normal women who share the same struggles and disappointments. The difference is the Warrior Strong attitude that empowers them and makes them unstoppable despite adversity in life.

There is more to life that you can do and achieve. A Warrior Strong mindset keeps us in tune with what really matters for us and not what the world wants us to become. This powerful framework of thinking allows you to accept and love yourself wholeheartedly, but at the same time, pushes you to become the best you for your own sake.

This new year, we have a lot of opportunities to reassess our life’s direction and make necessary changes to right the wrongs of the past. How many new year’s resolutions have you done in the past only to break most of them within three months? Resolutions are a way to improve ourselves and align ourselves to our personal growth.

Follow the tips we listed below to help you stick with your new year’s resolutions. Consistency is key in everything you do. The more you do things naturally, they become a habit and a way of living. Everything just becomes a part of you. A Warrior Strong mindset opens you to a whole new way of becoming the best version of yourself. It is a goal-driven mindset that pushes us to our limits to fully realize our maximum potential.

1. Set attainable and specific resolutions

The more specific you are with what you want, the more it becomes clear and doable. Instead of saying I want to be active, say I want to get 10,000 steps a day in 2022. These are long-term goals that you should stick to until the year ends. This will push you to a definite path to your goals and achieve them sustainably.

2. Start with small goals

We all want a big promotion and bigger things in life. We do life charts only to realize that things take years to happen to us. If you start with a small goal that is realistic enough to accomplish in a year, then your resolution will not be in vain. Start with saving some money once a month instead of buying a house. The money you will save will eventually be a stepping stone to buying your own home someday.

3. Use technology for good

There are so many ways to motivate yourself so you can achieve your goals. Technology has kept us interested and updated in many aspects of our lives that we want to improve. If you want to have a healthy lifestyle, numerous apps can track your food intake and make suggestions based on your choices.

4. Get support from friends and family

Involving your family and friends in this commitment makes a whole lot of difference. A warrior can face any enemy, but a group of warriors is invincible. They will make you conquer any task you set your mind to because they will be behind you every step and every slip of the way.

5. Monitor your progress regularly

We make this biggest mistake when creating our new year’s resolutions. We often lose track of our goals when things get back to normal and everything falls back to routine. You always have to check how far you have come to your goals. If you lose track, align yourself once again.

6. Cut some slack and celebrate small successes

It will not be an easy road and expect some bumps along the way. But as long as you set your eyes on what you want to achieve, nothing is impossible. Be gentle with yourself and forgive your missteps. Learn from them and be inspired by them to become better. Tap yourself on the back for small victories, for it is not an easy feat when you compete with yourself.

7. Believe and have a Warrior Strong mindset

No one will help you get through this other than yourself. It will be about you and the choices that you will make for yourself. You made your list, and it is up to you to make it happen. Hold on to that desire to change yourself for the better. The power of believing has moved mountains and is the true power of a true warrior.

Warrior Strong women rise to challenges

The beautiful thing about New Year’s Resolutions is the awareness of things that we lack or need to improve in our lives. It can be improving our physical and emotional self or aspects of our life like career or social relationships. Deciding to make positive changes, like letting go of self-destructive habits and adopting healthier ones, is always a good idea—one you should see through to the end.

Remember that a Warrior Strong woman fights till the end. Having a Warrior Strong spirit will let you embrace all the changes and challenges that will come your way. You are unique and there is no one in the world like you. So keep on pushing forward and love yourself every day.

Let’s face it. Holiday celebrations are always a good reason to prepare foods that we enjoy. Nothing beats spending time with our loved ones while satisfying our cravings. However, if you’ve been feeling sluggish or depressed after having some holiday treats, you might want to watch out for what you eat. For all you know, you’ve been overeating sweets!

From the donuts that you grab on your way to the grocery for holiday shopping to the sauces for your turkey, ham or steak—they all have refined sugar, the addicting ingredient common in (supposedly) comforting but unhealthy foods.

If you think this describes the situation you’re in, it might be time to do yourself a favor. Get back to your Warrior Strong state and undergo a 7-day easy sugar detox plan. Here’s why.

Sugar: The Sweet Silent Killer

Part of having a Warrior Strong mindset is practicing mindful eating. We’ve all been warned by our doctors: Sugar is bad for our health, and here’s why:

Causes cavities

“Brush your teeth!” We’ve all been annoyed by this reminder from our moms before we go to bed and after we eat, and it’s because the food that we eat that contains sugar is mainly the one that’s causing cavities. Moms really know best as they give you a stern warning why you shouldn’t overeat candies or chocolates—it’s because sugar actually eats away the enamel on your teeth even while you sleep. Before you know it, you’re already suffering from pain because of tooth decay.

Results in weight gain

Foods high in sugar content have high calories but are low on fiber and other nutrients. Eating too much of them can naturally lead to weight gain. The Twinkie you decided to take from your desk’s lateral cabinet instead of having a decent, healthy lunch will only cause you to eat more as each Twinkie is only giving you a temporary fill for your hunger. Before you know it, you’ve finished the entire pack of Twinkies in your drawer by the time you finish your work report.

Leads to depression

Research has shown that more sugar in your diet may lead to anxiety and depression. So, while you have several scoops from a tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream to feel good and forget that you had a bad day, keep in mind that the comfort sugar brings is just temporary. It would be better to talk to another Warrior Strong woman in your life and tell her how your day went.

Causes inflammation and heart disease

High sugar intake can actually cause inflammation in the body.  A high-sucrose diet can lead to chronic inflammation, which can stress your heart and blood vessels, increasing your risk of heart disease.

The Easy-Peasy Sugar Detox Plan

With all this bad news and only temporary euphoria caused by sugar, it’s time to rethink and revisit how you incorporate sugar into your diet.

While it is a given that sugar cannot be avoided, there is an easy-peasy sugar detox plan that you can start immediately, especially if you are planning for a healthier 2022!

Replace your cakes with fruits

I know, I know, because who doesn’t love cake? And who doesn’t want cake, especially when celebrating the holiday season? But, this doesn’t mean you can no longer have some sweetness in your life. Fruits are a great alternative to satisfy your sweet cravings. They are super-packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Blueberries, raspberries, apples and oranges are healthy alternatives that will give you more energy as you go through your day. An ideal serving of fruit a day is one cup or approximately 80 grams. You’ll be amazed at how you feel by the end of the week if you stick to this health plan.

Bring in the greens

Let’s be clear on this. We all know that vegetables hardly have any sugar content in them. However, let’s keep in mind that the canned ones have it in them. So, keep the cans away and have them fresh. Go for the greens that are also rich in fiber: kale, lettuce, and spinach. Whip up some salad for variety and use your favorite vinaigrette. Keep yourself in this zone, and you’ll soon find yourself light and less lethargic.

Go for the unsweetened

Keep the sodas and sweetened products away and go for unsweetened drinks like water or unsweetened coffee (love it black?). As for tea, honey is always a healthier sweetener for it. If you’re into healthy smoothies, you can also try our sugar alternatives.

Avoid canned and processed foods

A lot of canned products can also contain a lot of added sugar. For canned fruits, go only for those labeled with “packed in water” or “no added sugar.” Anything that says “sugar” or “syrup” on the label is something you will have to avoid.

Better sleeping habits

Studies have shown that people who lack hours of sleep tend to make less healthy food choices, which probably explains why you end up getting a Venti of that sweet Frappuccino after getting only 4 hours of sleep the night before. Besides, good sleeping habits are essential for your health. It increases your energy, focus, and concentration whether you’re at work or in school.

Be Warrior Strong and Nail the Challenge

You have everything to gain when you take a sugar detox plan seriously. Here are just some of the great benefits when you eliminate sugar or keep a low sugar intake diet going:

And if you want something that’s pure organic with no sugar content, you can check out our Super Greens Powder here.

Cutting back on sugar, especially when you’ve been used to it, is never easy. But we trust that you can do it! So be the Warrior Strong woman you are and have a healthier mind and body in 2022!

Are you feeling down and stuck in a vicious cycle of self-loathing and self-doubt? What if someone tells you that you can get out of that cycle and be the Warrior Strong woman you are?

Hey, you are beautiful and awesome! You deserve the best in life! Our life coach Mary Ricciardi also thinks so.

If you think otherwise, you have the power to change your mindset beginning today. The best place to start is within you.

1. Write down your feelings.

Whether you’re keeping a journal or not, it helps to write how you feel on any given day. Scribbling out your thoughts and feelings gives you an outlet for your suppressed thoughts and pent-up emotions. Making it part of your routine helps identify your negative thoughts and self-destructive behaviors and provides an opportunity for positive self-talk.

2. Treat yourself.

Have some nice dinner in your favorite restaurant, or prepare yourself a small turkey sandwich with pumpkin pie for a mini-Thanksgiving meal. Eating foods with tryptophan like turkey can increase your serotonin levels, the feel-good hormone in the body. Therefore, it can promote good mood and boost your self-confidence.

3. Meditate.

Practicing stillness and not thinking about any negative thoughts can help you relax. Close your eyes. Imagine that feeling when you just allow your body to float in the pool and let the water take you in its direction of flow. It’s like forgetting your self-doubts and worries since something else is in control. It’s also a way to be Warrior Strong.

4. Thank Yourself.

You’re probably busy asking for appreciation, love, and approval from other people that you forget to offer all these things to yourself. You give yourself a positivity boost by thanking yourself for the incredible being that you are and the fantastic things you do for others.

5. Try something new.

Break from the monotony of your daily routine and try something new. Allow yourself to do something exciting that’s not familiar to your senses. Just permit yourself to experience something different. That thought alone paves the way for you to feel awesome.

6. Stop comparing yourself to others.

Social media can sometimes bring out our worst feelings. Seeing your friend get a promotion, a coworker who just posted about her engagement, or perhaps a new connection who just posted about his newly purchased car, or that fellow entrepreneur who just made 7 figures last month. Rather than compare ourselves with them or feel sorry for ourselves, why not celebrate our wins and celebrate their wins, as well? That’s how Warrior Strong women roll.

7. Hydrate.

Yes. Awesomeness can happen in an instant by just drinking water. Hydration increases our energy levels and helps alertness, and improves mental clarity. Give it a try right now.

8. Have a good laugh.

You’ve probably found yourself laughing on more occasions than one at cat and dog videos as you scroll through your newsfeed on social media. Admit it or not, those funny videos have somehow perked you up, especially in moments when you’re feeling down.

9. Pet an animal.

Pets are great companions, whether they’re not doing anything and just taking a nap beside you or extending their paws as if gesturing that you cuddle them or scratch their belly. The tactile sensation we feel when we stroke their coat gives that fuzzy feeling that just warms us up. If you’re beside your pet right now, why don’t you try to stroke his hair and see how that makes you feel.

10. Read.

While reading is a good pastime that temporarily transports us and takes us away from our own negative thoughts, reading also allows us to absorb new insights through the characters we read and learn new life perspectives that we never heard of before.

11. Learn something new.

With every piece of information accessible in a single tap or click, it is incredibly easy to learn practically any skill nowadays. So whether you’re learning something entirely new, or something you’re passionate about, it will not only make you feel awesome but also boost your self-esteem.

12. Make a fashion statement.

Have you always wanted to express yourself through the clothes you wear but are just too scared to try? Why not do it today? You are doing it for yourself anyway to feel good. As Nike says, “Just do it.

13. Take a warm bath.

Warm baths relax the muscles, especially when you’ve had a long and tiring day.

14. Put a pop of color.

Colors, no doubt, can brighten our day. A vase of fresh, colorful flowers, a shirt with your favorite color, some blush on your cheeks – these can all instantly perk up your day. You just have to decide what color perks you up and how it can brighten your day.

15. Make plans and have Warrior Strong mindset.

It doesn’t have to be grand or lavish. It’s the mere thought that YOU are the one planning it is what makes it exciting! Plan to paint your room a new color or schedule a trip to a place you’ve never been to. If you love to cook, plan a meal and invite your friends over, or simply intend to walk in the park or a trip to the nearest coffee shop.

All these are part of having a confident and Warrior Strong mindset. Feeling awesome is part of being a Warrior Strong woman. Remember, you are AWESOME.

If you find these tips helpful and want to know more, visit Warrior Strong Wellness and be the awesome and Warrior Strong woman that you are.

Want to shake off some bad habits? Learn the secrets to crushing your unhealthy habits with the most practical tips and tricks from the WSL365 Course.

Nothing good has ever come from bad habits. We’re all well-acquainted with this truth, and yet, most people still have a hard time breaking free from their unhealthy lifestyle choices.  But why is it so hard to move on and embrace a powerful mindset transformation?  In the Warrior Strong Lifestyle 365 Academy Course, I’ll help you learn how to shift your thinking about becoming a healthier you.

If you’re ready to break free from your old ways of thinking and finally start a sustainable health journey, check out the tips and tricks that I hope to share with you in my  WSL365 Course.

Why am I Stuck In My Old Habits?

They say old habits are hard to break... That’s why, as much as you try to question your motives after doing something against your self-interest, you can’t pull yourself out.

As you get sucked into that vortex, you become susceptible to making the same mistakes over and over again. It can get tiring and frustrating, and you will most definitely end up beating yourself for it.

So why do you do it? Why do you have to keep putting yourself through that horrible experience?

Psychologists and researchers have been trying to find the answers. Here are some of their proposed explanations:

Established neural pathways

Habits take time to develop. But, once they become an official part of your system, your brain creates a neural pathway for each task, allowing you to switch into  “auto-pilot” mode where you perform the behavior without thinking about it.

For example, suppose you have developed this urge to wash your hands every time you head out to get groceries during the first few months of the pandemic. In that case, you might have begun to incorporate this behavior into your system without consciously thinking about it.

That’s why until today, you find yourself heading straight to the sink to wash your hands each time you get home.

Feeling stressed out or bored

We all have different coping mechanisms. Unfortunately, some people find themselves engaging in all sorts of unpleasant and sometimes destructive habits like biting the nails, drinking alcohol, or smoking.

Some even go on a binge eating fest, consuming a ton of fat-laden, sugary, and sodium-rich food products and convincing themselves that “Hey! it’s okay, you won’t do it again. Right?”. A day later, they’re back on the same chair, eating the same types of food and saying the same excuse.

The thing is, you don’t have to resort to these behaviors or practices. You can find more productive ways to entertain yourself or cope with stress.

For example, you can engage in a rigorous exercise routine. This way, you can stimulate the release of endorphins, a neurotransmitter used for relieving pain and providing that “feel good” sensation to your mind and body.

Besides exercising, you can turn to hobbies like cooking healthy meals to ease your weary mind. You can even join yoga sessions, go on a walk,  or drive to the mall for quick window shopping.

#1. Secret: Building Consistency is the Key

It took years for your repeated behavior to turn into a permanent part of your unconscious thinking. That’s why, if you want to learn how to undo these habits, you will need to rewire your brain and start introducing new and better practices.

To do so, I recommend looking at the benefits you often get whenever you go to behavior like drinking alcohol or emotional eating. Then, find an activity that can provide you with a similar effect.

For example, if you tend to grab a cookie or some chips each time you feel frustrated or stressed, I suggest taking a time out and drinking some water and maybe go for a walk or call a friend instead until you release pent-up anger and energy.

At Warrior Strong Lifestyle 365 Academy Course, I will teach you how to create and maintain a consistent routine. This way, you address harmful practices and hone positive ones to lead to a healthier and more fit body and mind.

More importantly, with the WSL365 Course, you will understand that self-transformation isn’t a one-time event but rather a journey that may feature plenty of ups and downs.
